In the weekend of 20 and 21 August, I went on a school trip to Rotorua. It was not the cheapest trip, but it was definitly worth it!

At 08:45 at school. It is a quite long bus ride, so you can better leave on time. It is about a journey of 4 hour. We have not done a lot. After two hours we stopped to visit the Waitomo Glowworm Caves. It started with a guided tour in the caves. These are very big and nice. They consist of a certain white stone that I really can charm. After we had seen it we're taking the stairs went deeper underground and there was to find a river. We have put us in a boat and then what will sail around. In itself it was not a special boat ride until you looked up. There were all seen small blue dots. The one bit bigger as the other. In fact it's luminous worms. It is their 'tail’ indicates that blue light. Really nice to see!
As we rode, we were soon a stop in Otorohanga. We also find time to eat our lunch.
Then it was still two hours away to Rotorua. It went pretty fast forward. Because I sat next to Anna in the bus and if you do some talking time is progressing well. It's very funny to say but I could smell after a while when we were arriving. 😂 Because in Rotorua are many boiling mud pools, it stinks there some. It smells quite literally there to rotten eggs. You will be happy best rap used to it so you can still enjoy the stay. We were first dropped off at the hostel “The Backyard Inn”. We were there to install some free time on our. The rooms were small but clean. I slept with Anna in a room. Afterwards, it was soon time to leave for our next activity. “Tamaki Maori Village”. On the way to the Maori village, the bus driver taught us some Maori. Really much I know not but 'pakipaki’ (applause), ‘ey’ (and) in 'Kia Ora’ (Hello) I have been stuck. On arrival we were welcomed immediately by his Maori. There was carried out a real Powhiri. By the way they perform it can generate a rather offensive / threatening impression. This is of course not. Afterwards, we were welcomed into the Maori village. Here were found several houses and each house was telling us something more about the culture. We started at a booth where we were just told about the sculpture of the Maoris. The next station was previously a workshop. Here, the haka was taught. Because this is performed by men only they were also trying. And yes, it was funny to see. In the next house, it was time for the girls to try something. The poi dance was taught us. This is a typical dance with a ball on a string. It looks very easy out, but it is certainly not. Then there was given doctrine explain some games that were once played. For example: a game for four players. You all get a stick about the size of the ground to chest. You go stand on a circle and you put this stick vertically to the ground. Then there is a fifth person 'Matau’ (right) of 'Mahui’ (links) called. It is intended as a player to run in the said direction and try to grab the stick of another player before it falls to the ground. I have not tried it but it seems very nice! 😊 After two other masterpieces time for the Hangi was. This is a typical Maori court in the land is prepared. There was enough food for everyone. There were potatoes, carrots, lettuce, kip, Mussels, vis, lam,… enough so 😉. There was a delicious dessert. After we had eaten our fill around we returned to the hostel. Goodnight!

We had to get up early today because today there were fun activities scheduled. After breakfast we are on our way to Te Puia got on the bus. It is an area where you puddles and splashing water can look like rocks. We went with a guide through the entire domain. We first went to the rocks. It's very strange to see. It opens the steam / smoke from the rocks and out of the water. This is because we are in the Te Puia area three kilometers sit atop lava. This ensures that the water layer under the soil to evaporate and find its way out through the rocks. Also, this ensures that in some places water upwards syringe. I liked it there that you could just sit on a rock and it was hot. Good for winter 😉 And again, smell good did it do not. Then we proceeded to the quagmires. This was very funny to see actually. After this it was time to see some real kiwi! They are very cute animals. Really good you could not see her because of the darkroom, but it was cute. Afterwards we went to visit some Maori homes. It was already time to go to the next activity, a little further. It was time for the 'Luge rides'. You're in a kind of small trolley / trolley and runs along a mountain off. (The view at the top of the mountain was really super nice!) to do it was very cool. After each descent you had to go upstairs with your trolley. This was happy with a ski lift, I did not want to walk up every time 😂. We have been three times to go down with the trolley. That might actually be a bit more but we were likely to come in time shortage. In fact, we had to 14:30 on a farm are. Here, a type of show was held sheep. Various types of sheep were called to turn on stage, each produces that sheep with a sign of what wool. They have shaven sheep, lambs drink given and milked a cow.
After all these fun activities, it was sadly time to return home. This time, or to a piece of. It was a very cool weekend!!
